Yes. I also remember when affirmations were called ‘autosuggestion’ experts recommended not using ‘I am’ phrases and inserting your own name instead, or the nickname you went by as a kid when crafting suggestions for your subconscious.

They also advised speaking to individual organs of the body when healing was required, picturing, let’s say, your heart, and giving it instructions as though it had its own personality. These techniques are still useful, just not so fashionable.
