Writers, Let’s Find Calm in Not Knowing
Just a thought
Writers, I’m curious about our “not knowing” what’s happening right now. I love a little psychology to take my mind off of disturbances. We don’t know whether the Medium Partner Program has undergone a permanent change or is as attractive anymore.
Writers earning statistics have plummeted, which leaves them to imagine they’ve taken a pay cut. Looking back, I recall a glitch that occurred in the past that bears a small resemblance. Everything was put straight in the end.
What interests me at present is how we, as humans, look on the dark side, expecting the worst outcome, when several outcomes are possible. Among them is the possibility that things will be fine.
While not knowing, most writers have plumped for the idea everything won’t be okay. They’ve sided with the less sunny potential, and their response to circumstances is natural.
We dislike not understanding what’s happening. Muddy waters mean we lose clarity and often our common sense.
One problem with not knowing is that writers disturb the water more with their unease, stirring up emotions and making life cloudier. We’ve all been there, if not now, regarding other circumstances when we’ve imagined the worst and become worried.
