Something that struck me recently is the tone of verbal feedback and its crucial role in how it is received. An aggressive or sharp tone can lead children to shut down and lose focus. Hence, it’s important to maintain a calm and serious demeanor, particularly when delivering feedback that might not be easy to hear. As sensitive beings, children may only need to hear the less positive aspects once to initiate a change in behavior.
