We like to Show Our Love in Our Own Special Secret Way, and It’s Made Us Closer Than Ever
Experts swear by new love language to keep couples bonded
I met an unusual couple. Or, rather, I thought they were different, but plenty of people show their love in secret ways as they do. I interviewed them and other couples who’ve adopted their own clandestine sign language of love to learn what they do that’s so special.
“It began at a family barbecue. I wanted to let Candy know how much I love her,” said Doug. “But you know what it’s like. It’s embarrassing to get all lovey-dovey in front of your parents.”
“Then, a bug landed on Candy’s ear, and I thought, I’ll move that bug before it climbs in. So, I leaned across and cupped my hand over her ear, and, out of the blue, I felt all fuzzy and loved up.”
“Candy looked at me, and I could see she felt the same way. Now, whenever we want to say ‘I love you in public, we cup each other’s ears like this.”
Doug and Candy demonstrated their secret sign, and I was impressed. There’s no way I could have guessed what it meant if they hadn’t told me.
