We Are All Learning How to Be Free
Our ideals are mere illusions waiting for us to outgrow them and inch closer to less drama
Our personal dramas lessen when our perception expands. At such a time, we are like flowers spreading petals to catch the sun. Before then, we are tightly closed buds, not yet sharing the sweetest fragrance held inside.
The fight for freedom that sticks in your mind, and is the mainstay of your life, depends on your circumstances. If bars and unfairness hold you captive, your bid for freedom is physical. Emotions are doubtless involved, but you want to break free and gain the liberty to go where you want and live your life on your terms.
There’s another bid for freedom seldom discussed, though, and it touches us all. Every one of us is learning to be free from our own dramas. The prison of our mind sucks us in and tells us all kinds of nonsense. We aren’t good enough. Our body shape is wrong. We need more than we have and can’t have what we desire. It says these things and more besides.
Sometimes, our mind prison envelopes us, whispering we must make everybody else think as we do. At these times, we argue for what we believe in, even though we are fickle and could change our minds at any moment.
