The scribe toiled night and day, uncovering mysteries of the soul with a quick wit and divine wisdom, his pages tarnished yellow and curled at each edge.

“Where will I find life’s meaning?” I asked with an intake of breath, poised.

“It seems,“ he whispered, “the answers do not hide from you. They are in plain view.”
