The Jaguar
a poem

Call me a liar
But I could have sworn
A soft-footed prowler
Ran on my lawn.
Sharp-clawed and hungry
Past brushwood and brier
Her limbs long and lean
With green eyes on fire.
A white-toothed wildcat
Of muscle and bone
Slunk right past my window
Close to my home.
Lithe-bodied and smart
And confidence fat
A queen of the jungle
An aristocrat.
