The Fairy and the Bee

She leaned into the blossoms to better see the bee. “So small,” she said, clasping her wings around her shoulders to fend off the wind.

“It is you who are small,” replied the bee. “You just think you’re bigger than you are.”

With a thoughtful sigh, the fairy eyed the bee before she said, “look here, bee. It is clear you are small because you fit among the flower petals while I stand above the flower.”

“Your perspective,” the bee buzzed, “is skewed. You see what you believe.”

The fairy shuddered. “So, I am small, after all?”

And with that, the bee expanded out of the blossoms until it was far larger than she.

“Why have I shrunk so,” fretted the fairy.

“You just believed me when I said you were small,” answered the bee.
