What’s the biggest cause of stress in your life? You might think it’s your job, finances, or relationships. Then again, you may consider the largest stressors to be your thoughts.

You’re on the right track if the latter rings true.

But it’s not thoughts themselves that are a problem. It’s judging them as a cause for concern.

Don’t get me wrong, we must be discerning to survive. We must recognize thoughts telling us that jumping into a fire or not learning from past mistakes is harmful. However, we can do these things without turning insights into worries.

The sun shone. We’d enjoyed a terrific lunch and had the rest of the day ahead. But the cherry red Ford Fiesta we sat in was perched on a rock, stuck due to my incompetence at giving the reversing driver, my elderly grandmother, the all-clear when there was an obstacle.

We swayed like a see-saw (teeter-totter).

Thoughts of my ineptitude and our ridiculous situation flooded my head.

I clambered out of the car to assess the predicament.

“I don’t think it’s damaged,” I told Gran, trying to be positive.
