When it is extremely hot, there is less water available for wildlife, including insects. Did you know that bees carry water back to their hives to keep the hives cool and make food more digestible for queens, drones, and larvae? (source). I had no idea until I read about the effect extreme heat has on our pollinators.

I only found out recently and started putting out saucers of water with stones in them (so no one drowns when collecting the water). Obviously, this isn't the answer though. It will take extreme measures on a wide scale.
