How to Stop Getting Offended (And Deal With Offensive People)
Here are the ins and outs of offending and experiencing offense, including how to cope with flair
Nobody enjoys getting offended, and they usually imagine the only reason it happens is because the offender’s out of order. Nonetheless, sometimes, the real reason you’re affronted stems from unfinished, painful inner baggage or outmoded ideas.
At others, people really are unkind and want to elicit a fiery response. However, getting mad won’t always serve you. Here are the ins and outs of offending and experiencing offense, including how to cope with flair.
Don’t insist people should like you
The planet’s full of all kinds of people, and some aren’t nice. You can’t expect everyone to like you or treat you as you like. There’s no point getting outraged, especially as you probably don’t know some of them, and they mean nothing to you, anyway.
You can’t insist everyone’s agreeable, but you can set boundaries and limit your dealings with disrespectful people. And you can give people the freedom to speak their minds, even if you dislike what they say and disagree.
