How interesting.

Not smiling was incredibly hard but by the end of my month in Russia, I had the hang of it. My final test was when I was buying a set of nesting dolls. I didn’t smile at all but the vendor and I got to talking. We were around the same age and we were both interested in what life was like during the Cold War on the other side. About half an hour into our conversation, he cracked a joke and I laughed. That earned me a high compliment. He said that most Americans were fake but I proved I wasn’t by waiting until he said something funny to smile.
American Smiles are not Fake!
