Time and circumstances can erode your plans.
John, a fit, kind man with a cheery smile and sparkling eyes, told me he would pick up his easel and canvas when he retired. He could engage in his much-loved hobby at a whim. He said he would make the attic into an art studio and maybe sell his paintings, a dream he’d put on hold for many years.
But arthritis in his hands when he stopped working made holding a brush too painful.
I’ve known other people who left their dreams at the curb, expecting to pick them up later too. One couple postponed having children until their finances stabilized. They gathered a nest egg yet never believed it was enough. Now, it’s too late.
We all shelve things, imagining we will embrace them when the time is right, but the right moment might not arise.
